About our Volunteer Program
You can play an important role in the daily life of the Nazareth Village by
participating in labor-intensive building projects, care and maintenance of the
grounds, and animal care as well as gift shop assistance, indoor office work and
dressing as a "villager" in first century clothing.
A volunteer experience at the Nazareth Village is sure to make the Bible come
alive and leave you with a sense of life in the first century. We encourage
interested persons to contact Hannah, our Volunteer Coordinator, for more
information.
Program Specifics
Funding: Our international volunteer program is developing quickly,
but unfortunately we still do not have special funding for it. Our volunteers
and volunteer teams come self-supported or supported by an organization/church
group.
Time Commitment: Volunteer commitment can range from one week to one
year. Requests are gladly received and special arrangements and guidelines are
agreed upon before arrival.
Suggested Budget: For individuals we usually suggest a budget of $800 -
$1,000 a month to cover all of your living, travel and ministry expenses. This
amount does not include your roundtrip ticket and medical insurance coverage in
Israel, which is required for all volunteers. Please note that the Village does
not provide any stipend or cover expenses during your stay. We do attempt to
provide a complimentary day trip for long term volunteers.
Housing: We will assist in finding good, affordable housing for
volunteers close to the Village. Housing is generally apartment-style
accommodations and may include other volunteers as housemates. Accordingly,
volunteers should be prepared to live and work in a cross-cultural team setting.
Work Schedule: Volunteers may choose the days they wish to work. We do
ask that volunteers honor their time commitments. The Village is open Monday
through Saturday from 9 AM until 5 PM. We will arrange your work schedule with
you during orientation.
