Program Description
Each season brings new things to see as the farmer and villagers go
about the tasks of that season: plowing, planting, pruning, harvesting,
threshing. The weaver and the carpenter demonstrate their crafts.
The sounds
of sheep and village children blend on the hillside and take and learn
about the world Jesus knew at Nazareth Village you'll want to come back
more than once! Specially trained guides lead visitors in English,
German, French, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Hebrew, Spanish and Finnish.
Advance reservations are recommended for groups. Please allow for
additional touring time if your group requires translation.
Parable Walking Tour:
A Village guide describes Galilean life in the first century as
visitors meet villagers dressed in first-century costumes engaging in
daily life activities in homes, in the olive press, and on the farm.
One walks past cultivated terraces, an ancient winepress, a watchtower,
stone quarries, grape vines, old olive trees and then enters a
first-century synagogue. The parables and teachings of Jesus spring to
life as one hears the stories in an authentically recreated setting
with donkeys and sheep meandering by or stopping to pose for petting
and photos. The average tour length is 1.25 hours, but can be tailored
to meet visitors' requests.
First-Century Dining:
Foods that would have been grown on a first-century Galilean farm are
served with fresh herbs and savory flat bread to groups of 10 or more
in a beautiful stone dining area with arched spans that provide a
special ambiance and panorama for a unique Middle East dining
experience. Vegetarian or chicken meals are available. Reservations are
required.
Seasonal Evening Tour:
Special seasonal tours are offered during the Christmas and Easter
holiday--excellent experiential tours for the whole family. In the
warmer months by special request, visitors can enjoy an evening tour,
along with a meal served by lamplight. The modern life melts away as
the sun goes down.
